Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal was proud to partner with the Harry Gwala Development Agency (HGDA) on the second annual Harry Gwala Investment Summit in May.
TIKZN ACEO Sihle Ngcamu gave an overview of the investment climate in the district and highlighted key sectors with District Municipality Mayor Zamo Nxumalo delivering the keynote address. Held in Underberg under the theme: A District Reimagined, the summit showcased the investment opportunities within agriculture and tourism, the two main economic sectors in the district, as well as in emerging sectors. Several business people present raised their hands to commit to exploring the various opportunities for investment and economic development available in the district.
Nxumalo commended hosts the Harry Gwala Development Agency, under the guidance of Board Chairperson Siphumelele Dlungwane and the leadership of CEO Antionette Whyte, for achieving significant progress after 12 years, earning recognition from COGTA as the second-best functional agency in the province. Notable achievements include forging partnerships with TIKZN that led to the establishment of the Harry Gwala One Stop Shop, as well as the TechnoHub, which equip youth with essential IT skills.
