The South African trade performance: January - February 2013, can it be different?

The South African Revenue Services (SARS) estimates that South Africa's cumulative outward trade for January to February 2013 amounted to an estimated R115.55 billion, 6.0% increase from R108.99 billion recorded in the same period last year. During the same period, inward trade was estimated at R149.67 billion, or 12.8% from R132.71 billion in January-February 2012. The trade balance in January-February 2013 was -R 34.11 billion compared to -R 23.71 billion in 2012, while intra-Africa trade accelerated the fastest (16.9% in exports and 85.5% in imports).
